ABOUT MY WORK

My preferred medium is gouache, and I paint the delightful, the desirable, the elegant and the bewitching. Inspired by fashion, history, mythology, and the decorative arts, I dip into my box of paints to conjure colourful narratives celebrating the beauty and mystique of the feminine psyche.

‘Distilled Life‘ a series of paintings which subtly allude to fashions encoded in the interiors of early to mid 20th century Parisian boudoirs, cafes and salons. Not forgetting the elegant, female protagonists themselves.

‘Les Elegantes’ collection is an expression of the graceful insouciance and bewitching elegance of Parisian cafe culture in the first half of the twentieth century, reviving our sense of joie de vivre and vivacity .

The originals are also available as limited edition, signed and numbered (/100) prints as well as greeting cards.

HAND PAINTED PERFUME BOTTLES

I also hand-paint perfume bottles (dishwasherproof) using non-toxic acrylic paint. The botanical decoration such as roses, lavander, lilies and other flowers, are all still used in perfume making. These not only make perfect gifts, but look great filled with your favourite fragrance and placed in the boudoir.

BIOGRAPHY

Sarah is largely self-taught although she completed one year of a B.Ed degree in Art in her youth before deciding to follow a different pathway as author and writer. She works primarily in gouache and acrylic.

Over the past ten years, she has sold her artwork from her ex-partner’s boutique in the south of France.

She has recently returned to the UK and is living near Cambridge.
