ABOUT MY WORK

I paint the delightful, the desirable, the elegant and the bewitching. Inspired by fashion, history, mythology, and the decorative arts, I dip into my box of paints to conjure colourful narratives celebrating the mystique of the feminine psyche and the beauty to be found within and around us all.

‘Distilled Life‘ a series of paintings which subtly allude to fashions encoded in the interiors of early to mid 20th century Parisian boudoirs, cafes and salons. Not forgetting the elegant, female protagonists themselves.

BIOGRAPHY

Sarah is largely self-taught apart from completing one year of a B.Ed degree in Art when she was in her twenties before deciding to follow a different career pathway. Whilst living in France for twenty years, her love of figurative and representational painting was revived, and she now works in gouache and oil.

Over the past ten years, she has sold her work (from her ex-husband’s boutique/gallery in the south of France) to international clients such as the luxury 5-star hotel Villa Gallici in Aix en Provence, owned by the renowned Italian hotel group, Baglioni.

Sarah has recently returned to the UK and lives near Saffron Walden.

I am currently working on a series of oil portraits of Shakespeare’s most fascinating women characters.
